The sensory memory is the key to creating memories for our short-term memory by using perception and knowing that it is an important thing that we do not ignore so we form a memory of it. Short-Term Memory is our note pad of information that we take in to be recalled at certain times.
Although people normally refer to memory as a thing, it is actually the process of remembering itself (Turkington, 2002). Memory involves reference to the past experiences to guide decision making. For information to be used effectively, it has to go through sensory, short term and then long term memory.
